Angelina Who??????

Angelina something or other

I have it on good authority ~ Well Arthur told Patrick who mentioned it to Diane who didn't believe it but passed it onto me anyway that there was a conversation in the pub opposite the Chateau at Montbrun the other night or was it 2 weeks ago that the owner is thinking of selling up.I told Brian but he denied it all.

Having restored the castle to its former glory the owner's moving on & the Chateau is for sale.

I'm told by Gloria who heard it from Peter, her husband ~ so it must be true ~ that the Dutch owner, an entrepreneur, who may have earned his fortune by dubious but interesting means......... Allegedly Involving film noir, rounded ladies, well-endowed French men and some whips......and horses. Peter denied having anything to do with the whips & horses.

Also according to Arthur who also heard it from Gloria ~ so it must be true ~ the new owners flew in by helicopter the other day to visit the Chateau & said Dutchman.I think the report of a helicopter is probably a bit of an exaggeration!

I think they're called Brad Pitt or something like that & Angelina Something, I think.

Anyway a nice couple just trying to get away from it all & settle into the quiet rhythms of France.

Just like the rest of us really. They'll fit in nicely with all of us and I'm sure Angelina will enjoy the Coffee morning group.

Brad is going to join Bernadette's class for French lessons and the words got around ~ can't understand it but Bernadette's class is already full for September!!!!!!!!!!

Stuck ~ Here's something I'm working on right now

Stuck ~ Stuck in a bar ~ First Draft

Smokey bar few people all men excepting one woman smoke so fulsome the sun glinting through the window is blue. Only movement is the smoke music R Newman gotta roll with the punches

First conversation………
Have you ever thought how stuck we are?
No. I’ll speak only of myself.
I’m stuck ~ not you.

Head bowed this man seems to speak to himself……….no one else sits near him…he has some whiskey on the bar in front of him. He lifts his head and singles out someone…..

Now you ~ you’ll be one of those fresh fine
And dandy, good-looking, cool
And fresh-faced men.
Not like me.

No one moves or smiles or engages. He continues……

Yes I’m talking to you ~ about you.
Why don’t you come over here
Where I can see you for what
You are.

Backs stiffen blue smoke shifts disturbed by the bulging air
A young man willing to placate, moves in his direction…………..

That’s better ~ let me just adjust
My glasses.
There.
Want a drink fella?.......
Don’t want to drink with me?
Got a drink already?
Well , I’m empty.

The barman acquainted with these kinds of circumstances fills his glass.

Thanks
That’s just great. Now what could be better
Two buddies drinking, thinking,
Conversationalists ~ all friendly like.

The blue smoke swirls and gathers like a storm

Don’t talk too much do you.
Where you going now? I’ve just got started.
Girl to see, famly to visit?
Oh well. Good to see you.
Thanks for the drink fella
Bye………

Second Conversation

Have you ever thought how stuck we are?
No. I’ll speak only of myself.
I’m stuck ~ not you.

Now you ~ you’ll be one of those fresh fine

And fresh-faced men.
Not like me.

The barman can be seen in the back of the bar taking the top off a bourbon bottle in preparation ………………………for the next conversation.

Poem for Angharad

Card From Spain...........To Mr Thomas - Angharad’s Headteacher

Dear Mr Thomas, I’m ever so glad
You gave me the chance to be off with my dad.
If I hadn’t come
He’d have been ever so mad,
And I......
And I ..... would have been downcast & sad.

So here’s to you a card from Spain.
As you know
The rain falls [ mainly ] on the plain.
And this is the promise, kept in the main....
A card,
Good wishes,
and I will retain. [ I mean “return” but it didn’t rhyme !!!! ]

Thanks... with a bit of help from my dad, who describes himself on his passport as a potential poet.

Now Translate that into Welsh.

One Day More ~ One Day Less

One day more,One day less

I Here Now

She there then

We Everywhere Sometime

On the very edge
Of a breakthrough.

I , stepping precariously, with the professional’s eye
just avoiding.
She , playing at it, so secure,
no risk there.

And we?
We, our we-ness, never ever exerted itself beyond an intimate caressing,
A wrestling match.

And so we live our lives extrava - gently

One day more, one day less
One day more,
One day less.

You

You

I may write of the whole world
But there is only one subject
Only one thought
Only one
You.

White Xmas Tree

White Xmas Tree ~ Xmas arrives, at last, 23rd Jan 2007

There’s a magnificent fir tree

Outside

My window at La Grenerie.

Today
It captivates.

It Shivers, ripples
In the cold & alien breeze.

White on Greenblack
White dripping
White ends
Drooping White……

Xmas tree.

Il est arrivé à La Grenerie.

Attend

Attend

If
If I turn my attention to you,
Turn my head to see you enter the restaurant;
Follow with a strict gaze
That graceful sway of your graceful entry.

If I - for just one moment -
Give you
My fullest attention,
Watch Wakeful in that fixed way
Maintain a steadfast look in your direction.

If I should do this
I would be lost, again and again.

So
So, I do not look for your second coming.
The fixed price menu holds my sway.
Food following - fast, paper words and flavours,
Still the seeing and the waiting.

I
I sit at my table alone
And as the waiter approaches, bows and pauses,
I self-remember
A moment when I entered
You
With a graceful sway, a graceful entry.

You
You attended me then ,
You certainly attended me then,
But you are not in attendance any more.

The
The single waiter hovers with an appropriate professional regard -
Not knowing I am thinking of you
And not of the food.

In
In the mirrors on the walls behind the waiter
The door to the restaurant opens.

I
I shift my attention.

Aprés Noel ~ Whose coat is this jacket by here?

Aprés Noel ~ Whose coat is this jacket by here?

With Barnelshire* Christmas comes family
A familiar, heavy and warming coat
Around my shoulders.

I wear it proudly.

It keeps out the wet, this raincoat of mine.
It keeps in, the warmth of us.

We wear each others Leathers
We wear each others weathers
Making sunshine at the hearth.

We are like feathers in an eiderdown
Soft in our touching.

I understand the insides of your slippers.

And now, maintenant, across the Janvier frost at St Hilaire
A colder, alien breeze blows.
A white eiderblanket ~ big enough to cover everywhere
And everything.

I could do again with a warming cloak about me
Family of mine.

Are you cold too après Noel?

I have just that jacket
Spare
Pour Vous?
Tu.

Alisha ~ Made in India

Alisha - Made in India

Black hair - as black as night.
Brown skin - warm.
I love your eyes - deeply.
My favourite lips and smile,
Smile-like heaven; like sun- shining
on me.

Two hands - small.
Nails - tiny.
Voice - deep with joy and laughter- down
on me.

Total you - Bliss to me,
And “ made in India”
Stamped on your bottom- and
on me.
